Polina Artemievna Popelyaeva was born in 1902 and lived in Vitebsk with her husband and two children. Before war, she knew the Jewish family of Moses and Anna war, she knew the Jewish family of Moses and Anna Zaretsky. On July 11, 1941, German troops entered Vitebsk. Polina Artemievna Popelyaev gave him bread and potato, also a metric certificate of her nephew. Mother Yuri persuaded him run away from ghetto at all, but he decided to share his sadness fate with his relatives. He had to go out. On the way to be shot apparently out of pity, the police pushed him out of the truck. Yuri returned to Popelyaev and stayed at three houses for about two weeks .He had to hide, as the neighbor and accommodations knew this person bought documents which Yuri lived. At the end Yuri needed to go to the wandir .
In 1942 wandered around the village, asking for bread and lodging, showing documents if it was required. Returning after the war to Vitebsk. Yuri couldn’t find either netives or family Popelyaev. In 1990 Yuri could restaur relations with her daughter Popelyaev. He had known from her that. Popelyaev helped to rescue one of the family .
On 14 may 2006 Yad Vashem honored Polina Popelyaev with honorable Righteous Among the Nations of the World."
